Summary: Last month six Scottish wind farms were paid 1.46 million to operate their farms. The power that was produced was too much though for the UK eletrical grid to withhold. Wind farms in the UK are outspacing the the ability for the grid to accomadate the extra power. The power that is produced by wind farms needs to be taken care of properly and supplied where it needs to go. All though we need to get off fossil fuels we need to put this energy somewhere where it is needed.
Reflection: This is very interesting. I understand that we need to find a way to replace fossil fuels but i can't believe this alternative is making more than we need. They should sell the excess power to other countries. That way there is no waste and places that don't have power are supplied. This would be a great solution. I believe if you have the option to use an alternative energy you should. Look how much money these people made. I would definitely do this if i lived there.
Questions:
1) Would you use wind energy if you could? Why?
2) What do you think the UK does with the excess power?
3) Do you think it is possible for the world to get rid of fossil fuel use?

  1. This is really interesting, I had no idea alternative energy could produce TOO much energy. Although the article is making this seem like a bad thing, I feel like this should not be looked at negatively. I just think that maintenance groups should just monitor where the energy is going. Also, like Phil said, it would be a could idea to sell to other countries.

    2.) I think the UK just lets this excess power go to waste. This should not be happening, it should be monitored more or sent to other countries.
    3.) I think its possible, but I don't think it will happen soon. Countries need to step it up and install appropriate alternative energy sources throughout their country.

  2. This is definitely a step up for alternative energies. Now maybe more people will be open to using alternative energy. I like the idea Phil had about giving the excess energy to other countries. Maybe instead of giving it to countries who don't need it, they could give it to a third world country like Africa.
    1. I would definitely use wind energy if I could. Wind power is a really great alternative, because there are no harmful by-products and it is one of the cleanest energies out there.

  3. This shows that using alternative energies really does work. I agree that they should give the excess energy to other countires. Wind farms create tons of energy, and the people that run these farms get paid a lot too! More people should do this that live in windy areas, its better for our enviorment and it is a great way to earn money.
    1. I would use wind energy if I could because it has so many advantages. Also, I would get paid a lot of money.
    3. I think eventually it will be possible, if we find ways to use alternative energies more often.

  4. I've heard about this happening before. There are other countries who are further along or have more access to natural resources. Its important not to waste energy and even though they have a lot of energy there is just too much so they should really sell this energy to other countries. Not only will this benefit those countries but it would be helpful to the economy as well. That could be really helpful.
    1)Well it works well enough when you're in the right area, but if wind stops then you don't have any power. So I would use this but not be overall dependent on it as an Alternative energy. Of course wind also blows at different speeds so the power wouldn't be as strong.
    2)I think that they try to find uses for it but can't so they let it go to waste. They could shut down some windmills so they don't make as much excess power, but they might not due to the owners wanting to still be paid for the power.
    3)It is possible. It is just far to expensive to completely leave fossil fuels behind right now. The worldwide economy is in a horrible state and the materials needed for the energies are extremely expensive.

  5. Loan Opportunity Offered By Mr, Benjamin That Save My Family From Financial Bondage {  247officedept@gmail.com  }

    Hello Everyone, I am Putri Adiratnaa single mom from Jakarta, I would like to share this great testimony on how I got a loan from Mr, Benjamin, when we were driven out of our home when I couldn't pay my bills anymore, After being scammed by various companies online and denied a loan from my bank and some other credit union I visited. My children were taken by the foster care, I was all alone in the street. The day i shamefully walked into an old school mate who introduced me to Daisy Maureen. At first I told her that I am not ready to take any risk of requesting a loan online anymore, but she assured me that I will receive my loan from them. On a second thought, due to my homelessness I had to take a trial and applied for the loan, luckily for me I received a loan of $80,000.00 from Mr, Benjamin. I'm happy I took the risk and applied for the loan. My kids have been given back to me and now I own a home and a business of my own. All thanks and gratitude goes to  the help of Mr, Benjamin for giving me a meaning to life when i had lost all hope.
